JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE REPORT – DECEMBER 2024

13 Bowls North Juniors have been participating in the monthly training sessions at North LauncestonBowls Club. This year we have had in increase in the number of Junior girls, including three (3) from St Helens who travel to Launceston each month to participate in the training sessions run by Bowls North.

At each training session, the Juniors have engaged in various drills and eagerly absorb all the adviceprovided by the Junior Development Team.

This year the Committee appointed Fletcher Felmingham as team captain for 2024-25. The senior members of the squad deserve commendation for their outstanding sportsmanship both on and off the green. They Have consistently supported the younger players during training sessions and at the first round of the Junior Statewide challenge that was recently held.
The team selected for the first round was as follows:
North 1 –
Imogen Watson, Jessie Willis, Fletcher Felmingham, Blake Jones, Oliver Morrison
North 2 –
Sophie Curran, Nakia Daines, Oliver Wetzel, Chloe Collins, Lachlan Strochnetter

Catilyn Curran played alongside Logan Marshall for the Northwest in a pair’s games against the South. Logan was very supportive and encouraging towards Catilyn throughout the match and they won 22 to 6. The Bowls North Junior Development Committee thanked Logan for his sportsmanship, which inspired Catilyn to eagerly look forward to the next round.

The recent round of the Junior Statewide Challenge was the last for Chloe Collins. Chloe has been an invaluable player playing an important role in supporting the newer Juniors and the entire team.

The Junior Committee is excited and eager to see the progress of the Juniors as they participate in the monthly training session and the last two rounds of the Statewide Challenge.

Round 1 Results:
North 1: 6 points

  • Singles – 21/9 win
    Pairs – 16/17 – loss
    Triples – 12/16 loss
    Fours – 22/10 win

North 2: 12 points

  • Singles 21/11 win
    Pairs 17/8 win
    Triples 15/13 win
    Fours 20/9 win
