Bowls Tasmania Statement re Pennant & One State Wide COP.

Bowls Tasmania has been working with the three regions to facilitate discussions in creating one set of Conditions of Play for all Saturday Pennant Competitions.  This included developing a draft Conditions of Play document to assist the process.

However, discussions have now ceased as there has been no agreement reached between the regions on the number of players per division.  It was agreed by all regions and Bowls Tasmania not to continue with developing one conditions of play document if this first issue could not be resolved.

It had already been agreed to in May 2018 not to investigate developing one conditions of play for Thursday Pennant as no consensus could be reached regarding the composition of teams for this event either.

Therefore, each Regional Authority (Bowls South, Bowls North and Bowls North West) will continue to implement their own domestic conditions of play for all regional pennant competitions.

Bowls Tasmania will however continue to control and create the conditions of play for the Thursday and Saturday State Pennant Finals.  There are no plans for any changes to the existing state conditions of play.

Therefore, Thursday State Pennant Finals will remain an invitational event for regional pennant champions to compete.  Players must have qualified under their regional condition of play to be eligible to compete in the Thursday State Pennant Finals. Consequently, Bowls Tasmania will allow Open Gender competition.

Players must have also qualified under their regions conditions of play to be eligible for Saturday State Pennant Finals.  These finals will be 12 per side (3 rinks of 4 players) and Open Gender.

Please also note that abuse to any players or officials during these finals will not be tolerated by Bowls Tasmania or the host regions under any circumstances.
