BOWLS NORTH JUNIORS REPORT

Under the watchful eye of Bowls North Junior Coach, Rae Simpson, Bowls Tasmania State Selector, Candice Ayton and Bowls North Junior Selector Michael Sims, the Bowls North Juniors have been attending monthly training session which have been held at North Launceston Bowls Club.

Each session, the Juniors have been practicing various drill and the coaches have been working one on one with the Juniors to improve their technique and knowledge of the game.

Earlier this year, the Juniors competed in the first round of the Junior Statewide Challenge, decked out in their new uniforms that was sponsored by the ‘Roger Baker Trust’. Mark Strochnetter donated and presented new hats for all the players.

The Bowls North Junior team played extremely well in Round and 2 of the Statewide Challenge, showing that what they have learned from the training session have improved their technique.

The Bowls North Junior Squad, this year are a young group with the average age of 11 and over the next few years will develop into a strong playing group.

Several of our Juniors have stated that they aspire to play for Tasmania and Australia. Bowls North is encouraging the Juniors to pursue their dreams.
