BOWLS NORTH BOWLER OF YEAR AWARDS 2022-23

Players participating in Bowls North and East Coast Championship events gain points towards the Bowls North Bowler of The Year Award which is presented each year at the Bowls North Annual General Meeting.

2022-23 WINNERS

OPEN MEN’S – MARK STROCHNETTER                                                             

2022-23 Bowls North Bowler of the Year Award was the third Bowler of the Year  award won by Longford’s Mark Strochnetter.
Having previously won this award in 2012-13 & 2020-21.
In 2022-23 BN Championship series, Mark won Open Men’s Singles, Open Men’s Triples and was a losing semi-finalist in the Open Men’s Fours.

OPEN WOMEN’S – JEAN CLARIDGE

Jean Claridge from Invermay Bowls Club had a stellar year in the 2022-23 BN Open Women’s Championship Series.
Winning her maiden BN Open Women’s Singles title, Open Triples and Open Fours and the D L Reid Women’s Singles titles and by competing in all four championship disciplines gained ten bonus points to secure her first BN Open Women’s Bowler of The Year Award for 2022-23.

MINOR – MICHAEL SHINGLES

Back to back Minor Bowler of the Year Award was won in 2022-23 by George Town’s Michael Shingles. Teaming up with fellow George Town team mates  Richard Crooks, Betty Crooks and Doreen White in the fours. Winning back to back Minor Pairs championship with Doreen White and completing the trifecta of BN Minor Championships won for 2022-23, wining BN Minor Singles event.

EAST COAST – SHANE POLLINGTON & PAT HOUGH

Swansea’s Shane Pollington gained points in all of the East Coast Championships events to win his third consecutive East Coast Men’s Bowler of The Year Award.
Shane was runner up in the fours, losing semi-finalists in pairs, and won the triples and singles events for 2022-23.

2021-22 runner-up Pat Hough from Bicheno claimed her first East Coast Women’s Bowler of The Year Award. Pat won the East Coast Women’s Singles and was a losing semi-finalist in the pairs and triples.
