BOWLS LINK UPGRADES

BOWLSLINK RECEIVES MORE NEW UPDATES

BY LACHLAN WILLIAMS ON JULY 10, 2023

The latest upgrades for BowlsLink v1.29 have come online today (Monday, July 10) with some important changes for club administrators to be aware of.

BowlsLink Manager Aaron Delaporte takes users through these with an easy-to-follow video found at the end of this article explaining these upgrades.

A major security upgrade has occurred which continues to ensure the sport’s data is secure with encryption at rest and two-factor authentication being introduced as further security measures in BowlsLink.

Two-factor authentication will be introduced via an opt in process for three weeks until July 31, with club administrators or higher-level admins required to use either an authenticator app or email to input a six digit verification code when logging into BowlsLink.

Should users choose not to opt in during the three-week period from July 31, they will be forced to via the email option. Individual members who access BowlsLink are not required to use two-factor authentication.

The second significant upgrade with this release is a Quick Competition Set Up function. This will mean a competition can be created with just a few simple inputs being title, format, type and status along with playing dates and an optional entry fee. This significantly reduces the time taken to set up a new competition with over 50 inputs or settings available under the advanced option which was previously the only available method.

As previously announced, a reminder that the BowlsLink free website offering to clubs will also have an upgrade with the Gutenberg editor, also known as the block editor function being turned on. Along with this upgrade, the websites will be updated to the latest available version in WordPress 6.2.2. Finally a series of small changes and bug fixes have also been included in this release which are detailed at the end of the video.
