POSTPONEMENT OF BOWLS NORTH THURSDAY & SATURDAY PENNANT
Bowls North are following the directive of Bowls Australia and Bowls Tasmania to postpone all Bowls Norths events effective as of March 17, 2020.
We are following this directive to safeguard our members, as many are from the demographic susceptible to the effects of the virus.
Events affected are as follows –
• • Thursday Round 18 – Cancelled
• • Saturday & Thursday Finals – Postponed
• • Junior Training – Cancelled.
The Bowls North Board will meet on 6th April 2020 at 7 pm to revaluate the situation.
Based on the latest medical and health advice available at this time, the Board will make a decision that is in the best interests of all Bowls North bowling members, as to whether finals can be played or completely cancelled.
If it is possible to play finals, Bowls North would potentially play finals over one weekend, 18 & 19th April for Saturday finals and 21 to 23 April for Thursday pennant.
Bowls North recognises that these are unique circumstances that will have a significant impact on all bowling clubs across Tasmania.
Whilst we recognise that clubs control their own activities, we recommend the ceasing of all bowling activities and the avoidance of unnecessary gatherings. However, this is at each club’s discretion.
We reiterate that no risks will be taken with members health.
All we are doing is buying some additional time in order to make a decision that is in the best interests of everyone.
