Changes to Conditions of Play for 2021-22

CHANGES TO CONDITIONS OF PLAY 2021-22

THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS OF PLAY HAVE BEEN APPROVED BOWLS NORTH BOARD

SECTION 1 – GENERAL
1.7  USE OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES – CHANGED TO:
Refer to Bowls Australia Policy – The Use of Personal Electronic Devices and Communication Devices.
The use of mobile phones or any other electronic devices on greens is not permitted during Pennant competitions or BN Championships except for approved Bowls Australia umpires equipment.
Extract from the policy: Should a player have a legitimate reason (personal emergency or medical or emergency services personnel) to answer a mobile phone they must have permission from the controlling body and notify the Umpire of the day, prior to playing.
1.11  BOWLS DISCS – CHANGED TO:
Where discs are affixed to bowls, the discs must be identical for all bowls in use by:
(a)   In BN pennant (Penalty may apply)
(b) Players in composite teams or replacement players may use their own discs if playing in the club’s lowest division in pennant.
(c) Umpires discretion as to whether discs need to be changed/removed in Bowls North Championship events.
1.13  REGISTRATION AND CLEARANCES: CHANGED TO:
(d) Clearances will not be processed by BN after the twelfth (12) round of the BN eighteen (18) round pennant season. Clearances after this date require Bowls North Board approval before processing.
2.2 DRAWS FOR MATCHES: CHANGED TO:
(
a) The BN Greens Committee, in consultation with the club/greenkeeper, will select/recommend greens (refer Appendix B) to the Match Committee. Venues will be allocated by the Match Committee two (2) weeks prior to BN Championship event.
2.5 DUTIES OF HOST CLUB & MATCH COMMITTEE: CHANGED TO:
Where BN Competitions are to be played, the Match Manger or Match Committee shall be responsible for:
(c) The Match Committee is responsible for the umpire/s appointment arrange sufficient markers for singles matches and advise the host club.
2.10 SINGLES FORMAT: ADDED:
(b) Champion of Champions Singles format – knockout 21 up as per Bowls Tasmania Conditions of Play.
2.22 PROTECTED PLAYERS – DELETED
Protected players only applies to Bowls North Pennant Roster.
2.22 CODE OF CONDUCT: ADDED
The Player Code of Conduct includes abusive language, dissension, or conduct unbecoming, or actions which would bring the game of bowls into disrepute. The administration of this condition is to be applies in accordance with the relevant BA policy document.
3.9 STARTING TIME, DESIGNATED BREAKS AND NO SHOWS: CHANGED TO:
Thursday matches will start at 11 am and will be decided over 21 ends. a thirty (30) minute lunch break will be taken at approximately 12.30 pm.
Thursday matches appointed time for commencing each match is 11 am. This time may be varied by mutual consent of participating Match Managers.
Saturday matches appointed time for commencing each match is 1 pm. This time may be varied by mutual consent of participating Match Managers. Before the start of matches and by mutual agreement Saturday Pennant can be played straight through. If breaks are taken, they must start at 2.30 pm.
This must be adhered to unless there is an agreement between the two clubs at least 1 day in advance of the game.
3.32 FINALS: CHANGED:
(b) The Match Committee, following recommendations from the BN Greens Committee re quality greens, will select greens and make all arrangements necessary for the conduct of the final series. Final venues will be allocated approximately two (2) weeks before the start of the final series.
APPENDIX B – SELECTION OF GREENS FOR MAJOR EVENTS: CHANGED:
Other considerations – The allocation of greens will not be influenced by the geographic location of the club and greens will be allocated for Bowls North Championship events two (2) weeks prior to the scheduled date of the event.
APPENDIX C- MATCH MANAGERS GUIDELINES: CHANGED TO:
MATCH MANGERS must be a playing member of the pennant side
and duties for BN pennant games (both Thursday & Saturday)
ADDED: 
Score cards from all pennant matches need to be retained by the Club for the entire season including games that are washed out/cancelled.
DELETED:
8 badges – A copy of BOTH CLUBS team scorecards (COPY BOTH SIDES) should be emailed to BN Office – ntbowls@bigpond.net.au. Eight Badges will be presented to teams at the Annual General Meeting of Bowls North.
