BOWLS TASMANIA STATEWIDE CHALLENGE ROUND 3
The third and final round of Bowls Tasmania Senior Statewide Challenge series was held on Tuesday 2nd March at New Norfolk Bowls club on rugged greens and there was a definite chill in the air.

With the points close the Bowls North Women’s sides needed to dig deep to produce the wins to reclaim the shield for 2020-21. In the morning session the Women’s sides played South 2 and by the end of the games was in a commanding position to win the Women’s shield.

A win for the Women in the afternoon session would secure the shield for 2020-21. The women’s sides dominated play in the afternoon session with 12 shot win for K Saunders rink and 14 shot win for M Monson secured victory.

FINAL WOMEN’S OVERALL LADDER:

Currently sitting second on the ladder unable to catch the dominate North West side, the men had a nail biter of a match for the first round against South 2 winning by 1 shot with Roger long’s rink winning by 11 to claim the overall victory which was a much-improved effort from last year’s results.

In the afternoon game the Men took on South and lost by one shot 48 to 49. The game came down to the last bowl of the match to see who would win overall. Roger Longs rink held on to win by 8 shots with D Heron and R Boutcher’s rinks unable to stop the momentum of the South players gaining vital shots in the later ends of the match to both narrowly lose on their respective rinks.
